RAAKS is a participatory action research methodology to help diverse stakeholders learn together, enhancing communication and information exchange and planning for action that will support innovation. RAAKS stands for Rapid (or relaxed) Rural Appraisal of Agricultural Knowledge Systems. It was originally published in 1997 and is, in many ways, knowledge sharing 'avant la lettre'. Chapter 5 'Daring to share: networking among non-governmental development organizations' is particulalrly interesting from a KM perspective. Quote: 'Social actors are continuously , either sponateously or in a more organized way or both, building relationships with each other to create opportunities for joint learning, increasing their understanding and improving upon current practices'. The set includes a a cd-rom which contents a guide to the RAAKS method, plus 'windows' - specific ways to gain a new perspective on the situation - and 'tools' to be used in practice. Published by KIT/CTA/STOAS.
