FOCUS: The workshop will focus on a variety of human development issues relevant to the South Asia region, identifying practical knowledge sharing approaches that draw on the experiences and expertise of workshop participants and the workshop facilitators. Participants are invited to help define specific details of the agenda for the workshop - please indicate in your reply if you are interested in discussing the agenda.

PARTICIPANTS: 50 participants are expected from South and South East Asia (including India, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Maldives, Bhutan, Afghanistan, Thailand, Vietnam, Loas, etc), representing a cross section of organizations interested in human development issues. Please note that the workshop will be conducted in English only.

DESIRED OUTCOMES: Participants will gain an improved understanding of knowledge sharing practices and how to apply them to the needs of his/her organization. There will be many opportunities for highlighting activities that each participant is involved in through a daily knowledge fair. This should improve awareness of regional activities and provide opportunities for networking between participants with similar objectives.

COSTS: There are no registration fees for participation at the workshop, and we will be providing lunch, tea/coffee and workshop materials for all participants. Participants are expected to cover their own travel & accommodation expenses. If you require assistance please indicate your request in your reply.

HOTEL: A block booking has been made at The Himalayan Hotel. Please indicate in your reply if you intend to stay at this hotel, or it you would like alternative arrangements.

VISA REQUIREMENTS: Visa can be issued upon arrival in Kathmandu for $50.00 and 1 photo. The visa is valid for 60 days for TOURIST purposes only. Any other stated reason will take considerable time as authority must be given from Nepal. TOURIST purposes is an acceptable terminology even if you are attending meetings at a Ministry/NGO.
