The new issue of the Knowledge Management for Development Journal (Vol. 3, issue 2, December 2007) is now available. This issue focuses on the subject of 'Knowledge sharing and knowledge management in Latin America and the Caribbean (Part I)'.

This paper is focused on knowledge sharing, i.e. the transfer and communication of knowledge and creating a framework to institutionalize this in the ILO. Building on lessons learned, this strategy is intended to lay the foundation for a comprehensive knowledge management strategy to be developed over the medium term in the context of the next Strategic Policy Framework. This document is on the agenda of the ILO's Governing Body next month.

ILO KS Strategy

AJT is programming for a series of seminars and virtual sessions on agriculture in Iran. These sessions will organize in national and international levels. The first seminars and virtual sessions on agriculture in Iran is entitled "Executive policy for agricultural development in Iran". AJT intend to negotiate with all of the activists in agricultural sector and prepare comprehensive document for drawing executive policy, which compare with optimum strategy.   

The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations and the German Agency for Technical Cooperation are organizing a technical consultation workshop on the topic of Communication and Knowledge Management in Rural Areas

Nigel Paine, former CLO of the BBC, will present on the Role of the Chief Learning Officer.

A group of Netherlands-based organizations and other individuals are organizing a June 2007 KM4Dev workshop that will put the emphasis on the WORK part of “workshop”, creating an event that offers the community some space to work on collaborative KM/KS and organizational leaning projects. This event will also, as in past KM4Dev workshops, serve as a venue for the sharing of experiences and exploration of ideas.

The current issue of the journal (Vol. 2, issue 3, Dec. 2006) on the subject of 'Bridging knowledge divides: the role of partnerships and cross-cutting initiatives' has been produced by the team of Guest Editors: Peter J. Bury, Atanu Garai, Baharul Islam and Patrick Ngulube, working with Julie Ferguson and Sarah Cummings (Co-Editors in Chief).

The Pelican group consists of over 290 people interested in evidence-based learning and communication for social change from all parts of the world. This is the first Pelican hard copy publication, available in English and French (the French version only available mid-February). It focuses on the learning function of networking between different stakeholders, and discusses what works, what does not work, and what could work when it comes to networking for learning.
