To all who may have an interest,

We held our initial Knowledge Management Community of Practice meeting at RAF Molesworth this past month, and I wanted to provide an update to anyone interested.

My overall plan for our meetings is to spend 15 min on a concept and 45 min on discussion actual problems to which KM may be applied. In this first meeting, I spent 45 min on concepts and we still did 45 minutes on problems. I felt that there was much important groundwork to cover prior to getting into details.

I attached a PDF that covers the main academic points of the night. I didn't use the slide but rather used markers and discussion, but we hit the same highlights and drew the same pictures.

Interesting challenges that the group brought up:

  • How do you ensure a boss can successfully demonstrate their knowledge of the current situation to their bosses?
  • How do we ensure that our analysts gain the experience needed to create strong analytical products?
  • What is the best way to provide intelligence information to consumers? (text, CoP, narration, environment?)

We have put on our KM goggles and are now, collaboratively, looking at ideas. As always, would love to hear your thoughts on these topics.

Our next meeting is December 12th I believe.
