From KM4DevWiki
Back to Main Page on KM Benchmarking
The benchmarking exercise could be a starting point to :
- Creating awareness, getting people on board , discussion, reflection
- Defining what the organisation is good at, reinforcing areas where it is not good at defining where it should invest
- Determining a strategy for KM/KS and allocate resources for the implementation of the programme
The assessment results can also be used for example for:
- Measuring the status of learning within the organisation or later on evaluate changes after a number of interventions
- Setting priorities and "quick wins"
- Defining what are the deeper cultural problems are
- Comparing with other departments or organisations
- External communication (with e.g. field offices) or for PR purposes
- Creating common understanding of the complicated KM/KS concept
- It can also be used as a track record on how the organisation is developing when the exercise is repeated
And many other KM/KS processes.
