(Graham Durant-Law is the consultant selected to carry out the  social network analysis (SNA) of KM4Dev.  Graham has difficulty posting on Ning at the moment so I am posting on his behalf. Over to Graham:

"Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Graham Durant-Law and I am an Australian. I already note from the post data that KM4Dev has been seeking greater southern hemisphere involvement so perhaps this is the start, but I digress. My interest in SNA began in 1994 when I was serving with the Royal Australian Army Medical Corps in Rwanda. At the time I did some rudimentary maps with an epidemiological theme. I didn’t know at the time I was doing SNA! For me it was just a sensible way of trying to visualise and understand what was going on. Anyway for me Rwanda was a life changing experience. (I have a presentation on operational and applied ethics that may interest some of you).

On returning to Australia in 1995 I began to seriously educate myself, both formally and informally, around graph theory, network analysis, system dynamics, and complexity theory. This culminated in a PhD which bought all of these subjects together. I called the PhD – “Network project management: Visualising collective knowledge to better understand and model a project-portfolio”. Along the way I left the Army, re-joined it, left again, and formed a company called HyperEdge. Network analysis and business narrative are HyperEdge’s core business. I combine my work at HyperEdge with a number of academic appointments. For those of you who still want to know more about me it’s probably best to view my LinkedIn profile or my resume.

Over the next few weeks I will post updates on the SNA, including how I am approaching it, some early results, my interpretation (which will lack local context), and some recommendations for the future. I look forward to engaging with you."
