It gives us a great pleasure to present you the VOICES FOR CHANGE:Community Radio in Bangladesh- Creating Opportunities for Voices for Rural People

Currently 14 Community Radio Stations are on-air aiming at ensuring empowerment and right to information for the rural community. They are broadcasting altogether 120 hours of program everyday on information, education, local entertainment and development motivation activities. The programs are quite supportive to the activities reflected in the 6th 5-year plan of the Government of Bangladesh, UN World Summit on Information Society (UN WSIS) Action Plan, and UN Millennium Development Goals (UN MDGs).

Around 536 youth women & youths are now working with the stations throughout the country. Community radio programs have already been widely accepted among the local communities.14 community radio stations currently covers 67 upazilas of 13 districts & more than 4.6 million listeners.

Ministry of Information (MOI) of Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh has primarily approved another 18 Community Radio Stations.

BNNRC has initiated a process to explore the future of development cooperation and the role of community broadcasting over the next 15 years, and we already have a new challenge! We have already started Community Media News Agency (CMNA), Community Media Academy (CMA) & Community Media Newsletter   for building capacity of community broadcasting sector.

We invite you to join in our STRUGGLE! We hope you are - or will become one of our future partners for promoting community broadcasting in Bangladesh.

Let’s all do our part for VOICES FOR CHANGE: A Quiet Revolution of Community Broadcasting in Bangladesh to Fight Poverty and Promote Rural Development.
