Sounds like a fabulous idea! I havent tried but perhaps there would be interest from a research centre or University dept with a strong international development focus? Maybe UTS Institute for Sustainable Futures? Or maybe Val has suggestions at ANU? Certainly worth thinking about.
Excellent, will keep you posted
Incidentally, what do you think of the idea of trying to get some funding for a KM4Dev event that focused on SE Asia, Oz and the Pacific? I'm guessing you've tried that before - who did you contact?
Pete
I'd certainly be happy to come to another gathering of the clan here in Sydney, and it sounds like your visit would be a good spur to that intent, Pete. I may be overseas myself in early September, but keep us informed of your likely visit dates and hopefully we can set something up.
Hi Pete,
Great to have you aboard the Downunder group!
It would be great to meet up when you are here in September. A few of us got together in Sydney late last year, at Sarah Cummings' initiative. It was a lovely evening of lively group discussion, but 3 of the 5 participants were from overseas (Sarah) or interstate (Val and Kath). It would be good to use your visit as an opportunity to reach out to more Sydneysiders and others who may be passing through to join us for a second annual meetup.
Let me know when your Sydney dates are confirmed.
All best,
Charlotte
Hi KM4Dev Downunder
I'm travelling to Oz in September this year and staying around in the country and around for about two months. So it would be great to meet up at some time. Do you have anything planned around that time? I will be based in Melbourne but certainly coming to/passing through Sydney at some stage.
Cheers
Pete
Sarah, These references are excellent! I particularly like the Five Competencies Framework by Geoff Parcell and Chris Collison. Many thanks for sharing, they will all be extremely useful.
Charlotte, Many thanks for initiating the "Down Under" group and the first meeting in Sydney.
To everyone at the first meeting (Val, Julian, Charlotte, Sarah): It was great to meet such interesting people, to hear about your work and to get your expert input on my K&L framework.
For your reference, I have attached a link to the Learning Paper developed by the Global WASH Cluster on my work in Somalia. It is called "Knowledge management in practice. Implementing effective knowledge management in emergencies: A case study from Somalia WASH Cluster"

I look forward to catching up with you all again - in person or on-line.
Cheers,
Kathy
Dear All
Great to meet you all a few weeks ago - and apologies for the slow folllow up! In terms of meta-learnings, I would recommend Ben Ramalingam's working paper and a paper I wrote with Ewen le Borgne. The Five comepetencies framework developed by Geoff Parcell and Chris Collinson is a great way of assessing organisational KM.
For information about Dgroups membership please see here
For information about traducture, here is a report and definition
And an issue of the KM4D Journal on the water sector
Hoping all these links work - let me know of the don't - and thank you for allowing me to join you as a 'ring in'! And thank you Charlotte for starting the group!
Regards
Sarah
Great to meet everyone on Tuesday, and learn a little bit about your work and experiences in the KM4D field. Thanks to Val, Kathyrn and Julian for following up with some excellent resources and further reading for the group. I look forward to continuing the conversation as part of KM4D Downunder!
Best to all, Charlotte
