hi all: I think one of the key issues is the interface with dgroups (well, I would say that wouldn't I). We will need for the foreseeable future to have the mailing list as the core element of the community but this provides a hugely better web presence than dgroups. I think that the web element of dgroups might develop some, but one of the priorities I argued for at the last dgroups meeting - and there was some nodding - was for clean interface(s) to be developed to other apps like Ning.
It would be interesting to do some thinking here on what we mean by that. For eg: should this interface be embedded into the dgroups web presence, so that from there you can pop into this - and vice versa? Is it enough that I can select to get (any) replies to this comment, and presumably follow the whole thread?
And then there is the tricky behaviour stuff: some people will be mainly email users: how can they be engaged in conversations that start to pop up in here? Or should we have an internal rule/convention that basic conversations happen in the mail group and we use this for multi-media, except for the wikibase.
Lucie fair enough. But still the question remains for other 'sub'-sites of KM4dev : the journal, the dgroups, maybe the flickr's, the video's... will it be clear enough what is / will remain where? Or could we at least agree on a central entry point? The wiki or rather Ning or maybe somewhere else? I think we should try to keep overview and access to all our webpresence as clear and simple as possible. This is not to say that I have the answer! Peter
Hi Peter, right now there is no plan to transfer the wiki into Ning. It would be a lot of work and - as far as I know - the wiki feature in Ning isn't as user friendly as Media wiki. So at least for now, we will still use the latter.
