Interest in learning more on evaluating CoPs and online discussions

At Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health's Center for Communication Programs' K4Health Project has collected survey data on 26 online discusion forums hosted by WHO/RHR and JHU∙CCP. However, until recently, we had not systematically analyzed the impact of these forums on knowledge exchange and adaptation. “Six Years of Lessons Learned in Monitoring and Evaluating Online D..., published in the Knowledge Management & E-Learning: An International Journal in December 2011, offers one of the first looks at empirical data from virtual discussion forums in public health. See the blog post and full-text journal article at: http://blog.k4health.org/blog/post/six-years-learning-online-discus...

We would be interested to learn more about the data and methodologies that you use to monitor and evaluate communities of practice and online discussions.

Best,

Lisa

Hi Lisa

I suggest you also post this on the KM4Dev Dgroups email list (http://dgroups.org/Community.aspx?c=038278af-a7cd-4c4e-bed0-ac8ea0b... -- to join send an email to join.km4dev-l@dgroups.org - the archives here on the NING site are currently busted. )  -- where most of the Q&A action happens. I think there would be a lot of interest. Have you looked at the Wenger-Trayner-DeLaat article on value proposition frameworks in CoPs?
