Seeking advice - Business processes to assess the impact of knowledge products?

The UNDP Asia-Pacific Regional Gender Team is planning to implement a range of business processes to assess the impact of knowledge products, in the area of gender equality.

We want to measure how various internal and external target audiences are making use of our knowledge products and if/how they are impacting on policy and programming efforts.

To guide us in this process, we would be interested in getting your advice on any methods for tracking impact you have used successfully or can recommend. We are looking at a range of measures from downloads to citing but want to go further and try to measure impact on policy and programming.  For the former there are plenty of practices around but for the latter we have found little.

Your experience, advice and guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for your help!

Hi Felicity,

You may in interested in some of the M&E sections from the I-K-Mediary Network's workshop reports - this group of information and knowledge intermediaries have been looking into how to evlaluate the impact of their knoweldge services and products, including the use of web statistics and theory of change/outcome mapping to help.

You can view workshops and reports here: http://www.ikmediarynetwork.org/workshops.html

We all get a great deal out of our engagement in KM4Dev. Maybe you would be happy to express appreciation through a regular voluntary contribution. Crowd funding works!
