The Knowledge Management Division in the Knowledge and Learning Sector Department (KNL/KNM) develops and implements knowledge management strategies, services and products in order to facilitate the creation, sharing, dissemination and use of  thematic, corporate and country knowledge.  In this way, it contributes to the improvement of the development effectiveness of the Bank's operations, in line with the development agendas of countries in Latin America and the Caribbean.  It provides high quality subject matter expertise in the analysis of business needs and how they can be addressed through methods, services, tools and products that promote effective knowledge management across the Bank and with country clients and other strategic stakeholders.

 

Currently, KNL/KNM is committed to promoting the flows and dissemination of knowledge that will facilitate the implementation of the mandates and policies that were introduced with the Bank's Ninth General Capital Increase, and to collaborating in capacity-building efforts within the Bank and in the region, in order to accelerate the achievement of the objectives of the new Institutional Strategy and the Agenda for a Better Bank. 

 

In this context, KNL/KNM seeks a dynamic individual to work in the design, execution and evaluation of knowledge management strategies and activities, to support the achievement of these organizational objectives.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Collaborate with internal and external clients in the design, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of effective knowledge management strategies and interventions. 

  • Participate in the design and implementation of strategies to improve the creation, documentation, sharing and dissemination of knowledge, within the Bank and in the region, particularly in subject areas prioritized by the Bank's new institutional strategy.

  • Coordinate activities related to dissemination of the Banks experience and knowledge products, and to contribute to capacity--building in key partner organizations in Latin America and the Caribbean.

  • Act as knowledge and learning liaison to one or more organizational units of the Bank, aligning work with client needs and development impact. 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Education: Master's Degree in Knowledge Management, Business or Public Management, Economics or a development-related field. 

  • Experience:   At least three years of practical experience in designing and applying strategic knowledge management methodologies and interventions, including needs assessments, and the development, deployment and evaluation of  knowledge management and learning solutions.  Experience in international development would be a plus. 
    Note: In the interview process, candidates will be asked to share samples of the outputs of their knowledge management experience.

  • Languages: Proficiency in English and Spanish.  Working knowledge of a third of the Bank's official languages (either French or Portuguese) would be a plus.

 

TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES

  • State-of- the- art knowledge of the literature, tools and practices of knowledge management . 

  •  Ability to conceptualize, design and implement programs and activities in complex environments.   Ability to think strategically, in interactions with internal and external clients.

  • Specific knowledge and experience related to knowledge management methods and strategies; analysis of knowledge and learning needs of internal and external clients; methodological guidelines for the identification, documentation and dissemination of lessons learned and good practices from Bank operations; creation and management of communities of practice and the development of strategies for knowledge sharing and dissemination.
