ILO's Academy Sustainable Enterprise Development

Dear Friends,

We are pleased to announce that the 5th edition of the

"Academy on sustainable enterprise development" will take place from 18 to 29 June 2012 at the Turin Centre, Italy.

“Sustainable enterprises are a principal source of growth, wealth creation, employment and decent work. The promotion of sustainable enterprises is, therefore, a major tool for achieving decent work, sustainable development and innovation that improves standards of living and social conditions over time” (International Labour Conference, 2007).

Promoting sustainable enterprises means strengthening institutions and governance systems that foster them. It also means ensuring a fair and efficient combination of human, financial and natural resources in order to achieve innovation and increased productivity.

This year, the Academy will have a special focus on:

Policy design to create a favorable environment for sustainable enterprise development

Products and services for enterprise development and promotion of better working conditions

Systemic approaches for sectorial enterprise development through value chain and business service markets

As in previous editions, the Academy will bring together leading ILO experts, renowned academics, partner UN organizations and international consultants and provides participants with a unique overview of existing tools and knowledge about sustainable enterprise development. The Academy strongly engages participants thanks to its innovative learning strategy built around different learning tracks in all areas of enterprise development. It also represents an extremely valuable opportunity for networking with professionals in the enterprise development field.

The academy is a multilingual event with courses in English, Spanish and Arabic.
