The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) is the leading global environmental authority that sets the global environmental agenda, promotes the coherent implementation of the environmental dimension of sustainable development within the United Nations system, and serves as an authoritative advocate for the global environment.

As a science-based organization that publishes key environmental reports, UNEP is continuously looking to improve its publications process.

UNEP needs to hire a remote consultant to do the following:

1. Research and analyze the readership, usage, and impact of UNEP's publications (UNEP has some data it can share, but additional data collection will be needed) Present the findings to UNEP.

2. Assess how UNEP is monitoring the readership, usage, and impact of its publications and recommend how it should be optimized. UNEP would ultimately like to create a digital dashboard for each publication that shows a range of quantitative and qualitative metrics. This data should be available to all UNEP staff and perhaps even made public, as per the practice of the World Bank (see this example of a publication page from the Bank) 3. Guide UNEP on the implementation of item 2 above.

4. Review the UNEP Document Repository (Dspace) and recommend optimizations that will improve data capture, back end process, and front end experience.

Qualifications and skills: 3-5 years of extensive work experience in Knowledge Management Experience with DSpace and digital knowledge management platforms a plus.
