Global Environment Facility Small Grants Programme United Nations Development Programme

A Peace Corps Response Volunteer (PCRV) is needed to serve as a Knowledge Management Facilitator for the Global Environment Facility Small Grants Programme with the United Nations Development Programme (GEF SGP UNDP), in St Lucia. GEF SGP UNDP is a global programme which is funded by the Global Environment Facility (GEF) to address global environment problems at the community level. For the next three years, the GEF SGP UNDP Saint Lucia will be introducing a Landscape Approach to the country to achieve more and faster measurable results by investing up to 60% of its grant funds in three major landscapes defined by watersheds. It will be building on 52 projects which are at various stages of completion and were funded during the 5th Operational Programme which ended in December 2015. The Country Programme Strategy (CPS) for the 6th Operational Programme places a high emphasis on Knowledge Management because learning continues to be a core principle of the programme at all stages of the project cycle and beyond.

A Knowledge Management Facilitator, with academic and professional experience in knowledge/information management, is needed to contribute to the Knowledge Management Sub-Committee (KMSC) of the National Steering Committee (NSC) which is the primary decision making body of the development projects. The PCRV will review, recommend and implement the optimal knowledge management (KM) structure and systems for the establishment and management of an efficient and effective KM programme. Additionally, The Peace Corps Response Volunteer will work closely with the newly established Vaughn Arthur Lewis Institute for Research and Innovation (VALIRI) to help design and implement short term courses which include conflict resolution, knowledge management for Civil Society Organizations (CSO) and project development and management. Working with the National Coordinator, the Knowledge Management Facilitator will explore the needs for Sustainable Development Mentors among CSOs in Saint Lucia and design and implement a Sustainable Development Mentorship Programme for the country. The goal of this assignment is to support the GEF SGP UNDP Saint Lucia programme in becoming a dependable source of high quality information, data and knowledge on Sustainable Development at the community level, and more specifically, on the three GEF Focal areas and on CSOs in Saint Lucia.
