Knowledge management within IFAD: Training the trainers

In April 2010, IFAD and FAO launched a joint programme to provide people working on poverty reduction projects, with the skills and tools required to gather and share knowledge gleaned from their projects. Different workshops in knowledge sharing techniques, writing effectively for different audiences, and systematisation were held in 2011.

The last workshop was a "training of trainers" session, which specifically aimed to upscale the whole process. Participants of…

On knowledge transfer: Why grandma's kitchen demo trumps any cookbook

My grandmother recently visited our home in Taiwan. On her first day here, my wife and I showed her around our neighborhood. We passed by the local grocery and bought ingredients for "tortang giniling", my favorite dish of hers. For Sunday lunch, she gladly obliged and showed us how to cook the dish. I made a mental note of her process, and it goes like this:

1. Sauté the ground pork (half-kilo) until it's golden brown.

2. Dice one potato and half a carrot, then mix it in the… Continue

Do you know Institutional Knowledge Management Strategies in the Environment Sector?

I am looking for examples of institutional knowledge management strategies, for all organizations. And for lessons learned, evaluations, and research articles focused on knowledge management strategies of large institutions.

It would be great if you could share examples, documents if you know any.

I'll write a blogpost afterwards to summarize the articles I collected.

Thanks in advance!

What are the measures that matter for knowledge management? Share your story in the KM Impact Challenge!

Measuring the impact of knowledge management is a hot topic in international development circles and many of us are trying to find ways to effectively measure and demonstrate the results of our investments in knowledge and learning to understand how these investments help us achieve our development objectives faster, more effectively, more efficiently, and/or with greater impact. We all know that there are no simple answers or one-size-fits-all approaches but there is increasing consensus that… Continue
